Discussion:
Moving a dead Toyota electric forklift

I need to load a dead Toyota 5FBE18 electric forklift onto a tilt flatbed trailer. It doesn't have the battery and is basically scrap. I'm picking it up for the forks and spare parts.

Are there brake cables that need to be loosened before winching it backwards onto the flatbed? Or, are there other things that need to be done to get it to free roll?

Also, is there a way to steer the rear wheel when there is no power?

Thanks,
Jim

Just an update...

I loosened the park brake cables as the brake discs were very rusty and dragging. Then I jacked up the rear of the lift, straightened the steer wheel and easily winched in onto the flatbed.

I started a new thread dealing with the C0 code the lift has.
