Discussion:
Why metal forging?

Forging is the manufacturing process in which a piece of (usually hot) metal is formed into the desired shape by hammering, pressing, rolling, squeezing, and other such operations in one or more forging equipment.

The bonus of forged carbon steel is that the metal becomes stronger than equivalent types that are cast or machined. The pressure that compresses the steel makes the grains within the steel deform as they are forced together. Forged steel bars can handle impact better than castings.

The tight grain structure of forgings makes it mechanically strong. And these forged steels are used in variety of industries. Anything that can be made of metal can generally be made stronger and more weight-conscious by forged steel.

Hope this helped to get a better understanding of forging and casting.

I would like to add on to that Carbon steel is expected to grow 1.9X during 2019-2029. Carbon steel is preferred for a variety of products such as shafts, rails, gears, cars, cutting tools, and blades. After carbon steel, aluminum is the second most demanded metal forging raw material. If you would like to read more about it, see https://www.factmr.com/report/4524/metal-forging-market. When I was researching about it, I came across it and found it really informative.
