Discussion:
Doesn't Turn on.

I just got this forklift from auction. It's a 1998 Yale Electric. Battery from 2012. 48V. Used it for a few days, everything OK. Then did an equalize charge a couple days ago, everything OK again. Checked all the cells, all fall within 2.09-2.125V, Acid levels all good, if not a tad high, but I'm using a cheap hydrometer.

Used it today for about 10 minutes, turned it off and then a few minutes later turned in on and it beeped and did nothing. Turn it off and on again, nothing. Unplugged the battery and let it sit a minute. Turned it back on and the start up screen did it's startup procedure a few times then stopped working. I checked the voltage of the battery it was at 49V, I threw it on the charge just to be sure as I've never had an electric forklift before. It charged for about an hour then turned off. So I assume it was full.

Any help would be appreciated.

I guess first off are there an interlocks that I should check. I mean if you're not in the seat will the display still turn on? I assume it would. Also not sure where the fuses are.

It sounds like you have the performance display. I think the green button is for displaying stored fault codes. Your serial number is good, this truck shipped with a tall mast. Your mast should measure 140" lowered.

I meant if it had the fourth valve option.

I Know the rest of it, but they put on a different Yale mast. It goes to 324". Goes super high.

Do you know what the green button on the dash does? The yellow sets the speed, but not sure what the green button does. When I press it, it does nothing. Actually I don't think I tried it since I fixed the issue. I'll go try it.

Model ERC050ZFN48SE140, Serial E108V09508V

@ Kevin, that makes sense. Thanks. The reason I asked is because the LED for hour meter never worked before. Not sure why it's working now. I assume the positive wire that shorted the system blew the fuse; so not sure why the hour meter is now working as I only changed one fuse. Weird. Unless that crushed wire was shorting the system causing the hour meter to not function and it finally make enough current to blow the fuse.

Anyway, what about my model number and serial is there a way you can tell the specs of my machine? Believe it or not my local Yale dealer says they don't have any information on it or Yale. I found that hard to believe so I emailed Yale and they said to contact my local dealer. LOL

Complete modle and serial number of truck??? The -02 means that the forward switch is closed when the key is turned on.....the ther two are probably the hour meter readings....the 4472 is for drive hrs and the 2710 is for lift hrs...l

Ok turns out an accessory that the last company installed; the wires were pinched on one of the cylinders and shorted out.

Changed the fuse and everything is OK.

I get beeps upon startup now and shut down. I think the startup beeps show -02 on the display. On shutdown I get 4472 and the hourglass and tire with motion lights go on, then I get 2710 and the hourglass and lift lights.

After doing some digging I found the fuses. Figured it must get in a big area. For those that don't know the entire fuse and electronic section is in the back behind the panel that says Yale on the forklift weight.

So I did have a bad fuse. I pulled some dead wiring out the other day, stuff just wired for electricity for warehouse stuff. It worked after that so I'll check to see if I didn't hit something. Pretty sure I didn't I work with way more complicated electrical systems than this.
