Discussion:
runs rough with random backfire

Hello
We have a hyundia 30L-7 that has a very erratic miss and backfire. We cant make it happen, and it can be at anytime. Does anyone have any experience with this? We have in the past had a cat that the crank sensor was failing on that kind of acted like this but not sure if it's similar to the hyundias or not.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Check the wires, connector of CAMshaft sensor, if not, check CRANKshaft sensor.
Change the Spark Plugs.

I'm a beginner.
if this truck has a distributor and rotor, order the OEM rotor. I have had a few with a "**** near fits perfect" rotor, and the same symptoms, and it turned out to be the rotor was just a tad loose on the shaft when running.

Did you get a resolution to this problem? I have a 25L-7M with about the same issues. Runs great then backfires and dies at random. Thanks
