Discussion:
the End of Materials Handling as it is known today

The Materials Handling market is about to change. With only around six or seven of the world's manufactures serving. With in the next 10 years most warehouse will be completely different Companies like KION of China DAMATIC or TOYOTA of Japan VANDERLANDE will dominate the warehouse business with hole turnkey products. Pallet trucks, reach trucks VNA truck will all be replaced with automated equipment.

Counter balance forklift sales will also decline and be replaced with complete handling systems that will be able to move products around a facility with out the need of an operator. Out side the facility there will also be big changes Both Diesel and electric forklifts will be replaced with 100% zero emission products that will have much longer ranges then electric forklifts and will be able to handle loads up to 72,000kg while being 100% zero emission. Companies Like Hyster who have backed Hydrogen to the tune of up to $260 million investment will see this disappear as hydrogen forklifts wont be able to compete with the new technologies that will offer lower cost's ,no need for high pressure systems ,be less explosive and more cost effective than hydrogen.

The hole post is about the future of the materials handling industry, which will change dramatically, AI will have advancements in how equipment operate, sustainability will effect how equipment is powered, china will become the dominant supplier, IC engines will be powered by new technologies with hybrid technology becoming more widely used

No matter how much the governor of CA might want to ban IC engines, he won't be successful if the engines are 100% zero emissions

Posting an engine is only 1 component of a complete material handling forklift truck especially the larger capacity units Your Lego/Tinker Toy like mobile had more components than just an motive power things like a tranny, steering and driving axles, steering system, mast assembly with carriage and a whole variety of attachment to hand a variety of loads of many sizes and complaint to all the industrial standards from various countries and those every changing emission standards.

FYI the governor of CA has deemed it there will be ZERO engine powered fork lifts solid in the US and highway truck- tailers in Cali - some time in 2030. Sounds like a shrinking market for IC sales of any king hear

Yeah that Bloke disappeared. The closest he came to a real type ammonia eating, world beater, modular design was a Lego type unit video & tons of BS. My guess is his investors ran out of patience and want a full refund and sent some of those people from Sicily to find him and pay-up or else or the famous Inspector Clouseau of the Pink Panther fame or even our own mr.Lifter of FAC.. He was last seen in one of two towns in Jolly ole England after he left Dubai.
Could be possible he found his way to cross the Rio Grande with all those other folks - he was a sly dog you know.

Just a question, as there seems to be so many experts.

Do people believe that Hydrogen IC engine technologies would be more widely adopted by the counter balance truck OEMs over 6,000kg as against batteries or fuel cell technologies

Its good to see that they have now got the equipment on site, just goes to show even large organisations can take longer than they would like to get equipment ready for tests.

From a point of view on hydrogen fuel cells would be interesting to see how they cope with cracking platinum plates in the cells , dust in the air would be also interesting to see the fuel economy. Hyster say their toplift fuel cell forklift in Los Angeles has a range of around 10 hours, they don't say what the hydrogen tank capacity on the trucks are but you would believe them to be between 30kg and 35 kg

Would be interesting to see if some one like Kalmar or Kone cranes don't go down the Hydrogen IC engine route
