I just found out from a friend at G and w that they prob. wont go after it. Liftone will be allowed to order trucks till then end of march and have parts order availabilty and software until the end of the year. So Virginia is still up in the air as to who is doing what.

I haven't heard for a fact that G & W will get it. I do know that a couple of different Dealers have inquired. But I think G & W will have the best chance. As for the date, I keep hearing 1st of March.

That is true..didnt think about the Software issue...
How long will Liftone be able to have the line and when will G and W pick it up. I understand that the transition should be complete by the end of this quarter. Will liftone still be able to purchase from MCFA? anyone know when they will be cut off...

No I can't say that I do. Everything that I've heard is that MCFA is very displeased at LiftOne's choice of buying the Barloworld Dealerships and would most likely cut all ties with them. If they don't, that would give LiftOne's Hyster dealers access to MCFA priority software. Which would be a conflict of interest.

Well I do know that Gand W equipment is getting the North and South carolina territory but I would figure they would bring in Gregory Poole from the east, but Cat doesnt like giving entire states to dealers,or bring Baily from the south and get the western territory for virginia. Do you see Liftone as a MCFA stand alone branch her in Vriginia?

My take is that whoever gets the MCFA dealership that LiftOne previously had will get all of their territory. I could be wrong, but only time will tell Herbert.

My question is what is going to happen to liftone in Roanoke, Va.
They already have a hyster dealer here that was not part of the barloworld deal. That company is VBS. I cant see MCFA havinf a stand alone dealer in this area.

Welcome aboard meliftman!
Sure, everyone needs to be careful; certainly several of my competitors know who I am as well! (many have met the bird in the picture and could recognize him too!) For instance the "duelling dealers" thread I started was due to the fact that one dealer in our territory was selling a brand that begins with an N and another local dealer took on the same line! It's great to be a customer here, two calls everytime for OE parts--- different pricing for the same part!

mitsiclark,
I did not take it personal, I only take these things personal if you speak directly to me,just thought I ought to elaborate on my position. Sometimes we know more than we want to, others less than we need to. We tend to say companies when in reality, it is people and we know how people are. I truly hope these new ventures work out for all involved. Only time will tell. I only recently found this forum, so I am new here.

Budman,
The real issue with the beard and long hair is, it does not detract from my ability nor how I interact with customers. I grew a beard while in the Navy, and it has been a part of me for 30+years. I feed my family well and look at it like this, it's their loss not mine. And still have a bad taste from the layoff they did because of the way it was done witrh my son being involved. All is good, and should I get to the point I cannot feed the family, I might have to consider a shave and a haircut, but until, "NOT"

Ability, That's completely seperate from the Lift Truck Industry. You're talking Caterpillar, Inc. and dealing with a Train Engine Manufacturer in Ontario. We're Talking about MCFA (Mitsubishi Caterpillar Fork Lifts America) out of Houston, TX. Two completely different companies.

i think its a wise move, caterpillar is a company that is proving how bad some of their ethics are when it comes to employees. a plant in london ontario, caterpillar reduced all employees wages by 50 percent. just after recording record profits for the year

That's great to hear Mitsuclark. I have heard good things about G & W. We need a good Cat Dealer there. LiftOne actually got me kicked out of one of my customers that they were the Dealer National Account for, then lied about it. I was mad as **** and not very impressed with them or their ethics!

Michael, I understand how you feel. You're correct, we require clean shaven unless you have a note from the Doctor giving a reason to have a beard. I kinda like to look at it this way;

When I was young, I played with a young man's toys. But once I became a man, I began to play with men's toys. In other words, in life we have to set our priorities. I'm x-Army, so being clean shaven wasn't a big deal. Especially when it came to supporting my family.

Mitsiclark, I wish you all the luck with your company's future endeavor. From everything I've been told, G & W is a good company of very good people, but extremely small with one branch. Hope they will be able to rise to the occasion. How many Cat branch's did LiftOne have in the Carolina's?
