Discussion:
running very poorly

I have a Toyota 8fguc25 with the 4y engine, throwing a e18-2 code. I have replaced the starter because it had Bendix issues. I replaced the entire distributor assy for this code and tested the wires going back to the ecu according to the troubleshooting in the Toyota manual. It says problems could be:
1 distributor (cam angle sensor) defect
2 starter defect
3 defect in the part connecting the starter and the engine, whatever the heck this means???????
4 harness defect
5 engine controller defect
I have checked the wires from the distributor to the engine controller, pins # 30 and 31, both have continuity, 31 to pin 1 on the distributor connection and 30 to pin 2 on the distributor connection, they to not have continuity to each other as the manual said to check for that. the igniter is part of the distributor correct? So there should be no issues there either with my new assembly.
DOES ANYONE know where to go from here? ECM is my last spot I guess, just hard to imagine that it has gone bad. For the 3 possible problem, starter connection to engine, it says timing rotor operation, but, once again, that is part of the distributor that i replaced.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Do you know what it means? Defect in the park connecting the starter and the engine? I can tell you we already replaced the starter, The bendicks was not always pushing out, so it got replaced also. The only connections for the starter is the battery, positive and the start wire. The ground is connected to one of the mounting studs for the starter.

An
Cam angle sensor open abnormality (on start up), OR,Engine speed sensor GND short abnormality.
Probable cause
1. Distributor (cam angle sensor) defect
2. Starter defect
3. Defect in the part connecting the starter and engine
4.Harness defect
5. Engine controller defect
THE MANUAL SAYS THIS.
but I think not everything is said in the manual.
you need to check Cam angle sensor and Crank angle sensor, wiring to them
