have had similar freeze up added more antifreeze to water then ok
Their not a new custumer. This lift has allways run fine untill about 2 weeks ago.I may switch it out with a cobra, just to see.I was thinking maybe in the lp,or liquid lp getting into regulator.Could this cause a problem Thanks Kent
actually bbforks suggestion is in a bulletin i saw about model J regulators, they do recommend upgrading to the 'cobra' regulator.
The old Model J's that had the primer button were deemed a safety and fire hazard. They did make a change to them and took the primer button out but they still had plenty of issues with them.
Since then the 'cobra' regulator has came out and they released a bulletin to most parts suppliers and dealers to upgrade to the cobra.
I've also found rebuilding those things can cost more than just swapping one out. So now that's what i do, labor to swap one is ALOT less then the labor it takes to rebuild one.
I've had this hair puller issue before- even lost a customer over it. If you have coolant flowing thru the vaporizer as soon as it's started, coolant flow isn't the issue.
Are you sure you have the correct regulator installed? (the correct spring pressure (blue or orange I think) for the size of the engine)?
I have been having all sorts of issues with the newer Model J's recently- have been converting to the Cobra's as I service them.
Last but not least- is this a new customer for you? I ask because the latent water content of the propane could also be an issue. The "commercial" grades of LP tend to freeze up faster than HD-5. This is where I ran into trouble & lost the account- the LP itself was to blame for the freezing & I found that out toooooooo late!
Yes,it is flowing ,ive loosened lines to bleed any air out. Ive rebuilt alot of these mod j regulators. when i took it apart.i didnt find anything that looked bad.gaskets ,primer valve, primary seat.i flat filed ,it.i thought maybe it had warped between gasket surfaces. It looked fine.Im going to try a new one,and replace the thermostat. whats odd to me, Is that,it freezes in the morning. Then is ok the rest of the day. Kent...Wooten forklift
If the thermostat is missing or stuck open it keeps the coolant from flowing properly to the regulator.
Hi you can check it easy to take one cooling tube of the vaporizer and start the engine. If the cooling flows out the vaporizer and it is warm cooland it is oke. If it is oke you must check the vaporizer , mayby some parts wrong installed into the vaporizer?
