Alarm 57 on mod 1 could also be set by the pantograph (scissor) harness. You can check this by going to the tilt and side shift solenoid and checking for continuity to the connector at the top of the fixed carriage. That harness is also individual wires in a sleeve that runs along the right side hose (looking through the mast forks first). Same deal as what Swoop says spray silicone lube to slide the wires through.
