Hey Guys, first up, might I complement you on a great site.
I have found out some great info helping me so far, a short back ground on my latest purchase of an old C500 HY40 fork (manual shift, Waukesha D155G engine) for around home, it is running on just gas ATM but has a petrol tank, when I looked at it prior to purchase the guy tipped some petrol down the air cleaner then as he turned the key he turned the gas on (he said it's the only way it will start) he then said it had to warm up for a good 10 min before you touch the throttle or it will stall, which was the case, the brake pedal is hard and only just stops it, hand brake was siezed in the off position, had really dirty water in the radiator, hyd oil was white with water, and the steering really keeps you on your toes (even in 1st) it is fitted with a rotator that only moves about 2" either way, it was fitted with a new gas regulator, new starter motor, new battery and two new front tyres & tubes.
So, I have stopped the 4 gas leaks and taken off & cleaned the Zenith carby/mixer and made a new gasket and resealed, dropped the engine oil (refilled with 25/70 as is smokey) and fitted new filters for the engine and trans, drained & flushed the radiator and filled with coolant, I added some Nulon stop smoke also and has done it wonders, the trans fluid was clean so just topped it up, I am waiting for a 44 g drum of hyd oil so I can flush out the hyd system a few times, so at the moment it is running quite well although I have only tuned by ear and is responsive right from the word go now, however it still needs a squirt of Inox in the inlet to get it to fire up. Sorry for the long winded thread but now I would like some help with certain things,
it has the Bendix/Zenith mixer model 101,
Question 1, is there a starting setting for the mixture screw? (eg: 2 1/2 turns out from bottom)?
Question 2, How and where does the petrol hook up to the carb if I was to want to run both petrol and gas?
Q:3 any other ideas why it will not start on just gas? would lower compression cause this? (I have not checked compression yet)
Q:4 does anyone know a part # for the Hyd filter in the tank.
Q:5 about what year would it be? the serial #HY355 094 AUF 2571 if that helps.
Q:6 any ideas on the rotator?
plenty more to come but that will help for now, thanks to anyone who will help me out.

cheers.
