Other places to check if the key barrel is ok are:

The 10 amp F60 fuse in the motor compartment.

The K10 main contactor - coil terminals come loose.

The silver A5 card under the armrest panel, the terminals get dirty - its worth disconnecting it & giving them a spray with contact cleaner & the connector plugs

On the frequency convertors under the armrest if the main fuses look slightly toasted this can cause issues but that normally throws CAN error codes.

Also where the wiring loom exits out at the top of the cab pillar can rub through / short out BUT this normally throws CAN errors which you havent mentioned - one to watch for in the future.
