Towmotor as a brand is still being manufactured by Mitsubishi at the same facility in Texas that churns out Mits and Cat IC trucks. TCM was the first Japanese company to produce a forklift in 1947 or 1949. They were distributed in the US by Mitsui until a couple of years ago when they cut out the distributor and went factory direct to the eastern U.S.. I don't know about the western U.S. Most of the U.S. trucks are completely manufactured in South Carolina.
Jungheinrich is making great strides in the U.S. market expanding their dealer network by threefold last year. They have been around since 1953 and to the best of my knowledge have not changed hands.

Fact of the week
Brothers Adolf ("Adi") and Rudolf ("Rudi") Dassler split their shoe company after WWII due to a bitter feud, and established the rival companies of Adidas and Puma. Their personal animosity and business rivalry divided their German hometown Herzogenaurach. The town became known as "the town of bent necks" due to the intense loyalty to each brand.
