hi
i had a similair problem with a nissan a few years ago it would struggle to wind over slugish bogging down it turned out that the hydraulic pump was seizing up as soon as we removed the pump the unit started straightaway so i would be looking into that maybe when you start the unit if the pump is a problem it may be getting hot ? just a thought as you said it bogs down even more when brake is depressed good luck
