Connect your meter to the A1 and A2 terminals of the steer motor. A normal working steer amplifier will have an output of 12v to 24v depending on how fast you turn the steer tiller. A failing steer amplifier will have about 2v to 6v output. This way you can diagnose a steer amplifier or steer motor encoder bearing in two minutes. Book does not tell you this.
