ok matt, to clarify how the platform works versus how the ground controls work...
-ground controls are a fixed speed controlled by some diode blocks in the ground control box, they do not vary any and stay at the same fixed speed with the boom down or up, doesn't matter (the drive system does not apply from the ground box of course).
-the platform controls vary depending on what function it is, the boom and drive controls use joystick operation and are variable speed controlled. Any function that is a toggle switch control is the same as the ground control and should operate basically the same as the ground does in fixed speeds, but the platform fixed speeds are different because of the LS switches and boom positioning. Also there is a button/toggle that controls the 2 speed drive control that will vary speeds also, there is a pict-o-gram showing an encline v/s flat surface, encline mode is naturally slower for more torque for climbing ramps and hills, the flat out mode is for level ground running and is considerably faster by engaging the 2 speed circuit in the drive motors. Now as far as the difference in speeds at the platform it also depends on the LS switch positions are in when the boom is stowed or elevated but like from the ground, the speed is a fixed speed, non-variable and will change as the LS switches change when raising the boom(i mentioned this above i think).
The boom LS switches, they only change the drive speeds and slow the machine down when the boom is elevated past a certain point. turntable speed is also affected when elevated. I think it does also change the fixed speeds when elevated too so the boom will not jerk around so bad when it is in higher elevated positions.
As for how they are wired? it varies depending on their function and the position of the boom. The wiring schematic shows all switches as if the boom is 'stowed' (fully lowered). LS1 NC, LS2 NO, LS3 NO, LS4 NC.
If your still not sure when you remove the switch cover you can see it clearly marked on the actual switch inside the body and determine how to wire it in from that.
If you want the service book it is freely available to the public on genie's website and the pdf number for your machine i believe will be 52856. The electrical schematic is on page 174 in the pdf and the section in the schematic where those limit switches are shown is in the J 6 area. (if your not sure on navigating schematics and diagrams look at the top edge and left edge of the schematic and you'll see letters across the top and numbers on the left, in a straight line from the letter and number make them both meet inside the diagram and that is the area the switches are located in the diagram).
