Discussion:
Traction gear grinding noise

We have this unit that all tech's agreed that it sounded like drive gears were toast. We disassembled the drive case, A/C traction motor and found no damage whatsoever. Replaced bearings and races. Disassembled brake and everything is in specs. After reassembly the same condition persists. Drive chatters like it's grinding gears. No fault codes and it seems that something is cutting out. Can't get it out of turtle mode, has anyone ever experienced this condition? If you can help thanks.

Not familiar with this model but... I would approach it by eliminating the mechanical portion. There should be a way to mechanically release the brake. Run it and turn it by hand. Anything noticeably different? If it feels smooth by hand, it may be a motor phase issue or speed sensor. Not sure why it wouldn't code though. There should be some analyzer functions that could help if you have access and the machine is equipped. That's my 2 cents. might only be worth 1

The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
