Discussion:
Batteries

I have a TW25B which is a 24 volt electric system. Works great but I am needing batteries. It has 12 - 2 volt batteries. ($7000 plus) Is there a way I can convert this to 4 - 6 volt or 2 - 12 volt deep cycle batteries or am I nuts! lol

Does any one know the amp draw?

I think he has described and priced replacing every cell in the industrial battery that this truck has.
however battery prices have climbed pretty steadily in the last decade or so, so a $3.5K (1/2 the price) new battery would be a pretty good inexpensive battery.
we might explain here that the reason NOT to use the smaller batteries is that this truck uses the battery weight as a counterweight, so using much lighter batteries seriously diminishes the unit's stability and lifting capacity.

"it's not rocket surgery"
yep, mrfixit is correct
this battery for this lift is probably half that price... maybe less than that.
if you look on the connecting shuts between the cells there should be a model and serial number stamped into one of the bars, usually near one of the main neg/pos poles where the cables connect.
use those numbers and call IBC or GNB and see what they want for one. (Industrial Battery & Charger) (GB Industrial Battery)

$7000 is way out of line for a battery for that model truck. It has a fairly small battery. I would check other vendors. Should be half that price.

Thank you. Another Good idea that does not work. lol

I am only using it about an hour a day for short distances but it appears I still need to go with the original battery design but a re-con would probably work.

thank you for your help

if you are referring to the 'deep cycle' type batteries that golf carts run? no you cannot use those in this truck. The capacity is not big enough and your run time would be nothing, not to mention the stress it would put on the electronics after a short period of run time.

The industrial battery is designed with those large cells to handle capacity for long term run time , most trucks are designed to run on a 6 to 8hr rate. There is no way those small batteries would last even a fraction of that time.

You could always check into a refurb battery or have that one reconditioned for less money, but that all depends , if your going to be running a full shift everyday or multi-shifts then i would not suggest a recon battery, go new.
