Flashing 3 code
Control contact pulls in an drops out
Put a working controller from another unit in but still has 3 light code

What kind of controller is it? Sometimes codes are controller specific, rather than unit make specific.. Common crown codes are in hundreds. so the 3 flashes may be different numbers. Unless you are getting solely a "3"
