The stops must be adjusted with slight play. The cylinder will bottom out on retract, and should just touch stops without pressure. The reach cyl has an internal shock. It cushions the reach from banging too hard on retract. If you have stops too tight, the cyl will have stress and snap threads.
Sometimes the shock inside goes first and you notice it bang each retract
There are cushions in the free lift cyls too. When they fall apart inside cyl, you will have big mess. Tell tale signs are hard drop last 2 inches, or cyls will not drop all the way. If you notice this, get cyls apart right away before iron filings go into whole system. Gotta Love Raymond
