Pump Motor Contactor

Pump motor contactor assembly keeps burning up.... When replaced the contactor assembly, it will short out. As soon as action lever is pressed, the clamps will move then stop almost immediately. i have checked the voltage and it reads 36V as it should.. I also checked the resistance of the contactor assembly and it reads 20.1... Any idea why they keep burning up..

Check the amp draw of the pump motor. Use a clamp on meter to determine if it's excessive. Could have a bad bearing, field short. Battery condition is also something to look at. What's the draw and load voltage. If your drawing to much on a old battery, it will damage contractors
