Peugot engine

Anyone have problems with the engine losing oil through the crankshaft baffle into the torque converter housing? This model engine doesn't have a seal and uses a baffle system to keep the oil from leaking out. I've changed the PCV valve and the crankcase breather filter in the hopes that maybe crankcase backpressure was blowing the oil out with no luck. It's not overfilled with oil so I'm at a loss of what to do except pulling the engine out and disassemble for inspection. Anyone have any ideas?

My problem with EP6 with crankcase ventilation.

Repair kit valve cover for Peugeot 308, 3008, 207 (A7) engine EP6
Membrane valve cover for Peugeot 308, 207 (A7) engine EP6
OEM 0248.Q5
new diaphragm valve for crankcase ventilation.
producer sells only cover entirely.
they produce membrane separately!

replacement is very easy, you need to remove the valve cover by prying it with a screwdriver.
remove the old and install the new membrane.
close the cover.

check you crankshaft end play. don't know what the spec is but I remember its very important it's within spec because of just having a slinger and no seal. Also I remember when loading forklifts that had the peugeot and the truck was on a steep slope they would sometimes leak. Hope this helps

Never had the pleasure of servicing one of these- never heard anything good on this engine- everyone always complains of leakage. Does anyone know what other application this engine was used on?

I can lift,stack,push and pull
I remember that when these units first came out, I was working for a Cat dealer at the time. There isn't a replaceable seal at the back of the crankshaft.
Peugeots are noted for leaking head gaskets and if you weren't careful removing the head, the liners would break loose and cause a lot more problems. I found that the breathers, hoses, and oil filler tube had a nice yellow foam coating plugging the openings. I guess they were preventing the PCV system from working properly and building up internal pressure which is causing the oil leaks.

Now try and get a Peugeot to start and run properly....................that's another can of worms.

I recall the rear seal on the 2.0 was called a "hydrodynamic seal" Not really a seal at all. High base pressure can push oil past it. I did an inframe in the field shortly after they came out in the late 80"s. It has free standing wet liners that are shimmed at the bottom to get the correct liner projection. I have one customer running the engine with over 15,000 HOURS! T30D. This is the exception, not the rule. EPS will not even offer this engine anymore the last time I asked.

If pcv is still run on #3 cylinder move it to port under carborator and try that I have had problems of fouled #3 plugs and oil use.Single cylinder pulses to much for pcv.#1 at flywheel side of motor #4 at fan side.
