Howdy all- a noob here who found this great site while looking for info on an old forklift I just bought. It is a York and the data plate says model TM120, serial #201865, capacity 11,600 lbs, and hoist height 17ft XL. I would like to get a manual for it as well as any other info, but there is absolutely zero info on the internet that I can find. I haven't picked it up yet and it would be nice to know how much it weighs so I can arrange for the proper transport vehicle. Other than that I would like to have info for fluids, tune up etc.. I think it is a 1950's model and I got it for $500 from the original owner! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks- Scott

I don't recall what what the hour meter read, but I think it was around 1500 hours, and the records showed an engine rebuild at 800 something hours around 1980. I only started it to make sure it would drive off the truck that was delivering it for me, and it fired right up and ran smooth. I am looking forward to this weekend to go back down to my property and get a better look at the beast and maybe even lift some stuff with it! -Scott
yep you could use 10/30 but if it has much wear in it i would go higher on the weight, 10/40 maybe.
Let it run for a bit to get good and hot.
Just pay attention to the exhaust, if there is any bluish smoke coming out of it while running after it gets hot try a heavier weight oil.
Even though hour meters sometimes do not reflect the actual hours on a truck because it may have been changed at some point in it's past i'd be curious to know how many hours on showing on the one on your unit.
No luck on posting pictures yet. What do I have to do to attach pics to my post? I got the forklift delivered to my property today and it came with a folder of records that shows all the info for the engine, which is a Continental f244 flathead 6 cylinder. I won't be going to my property until this weekend, and if it is dry enough I'll be able to drive it the 3 miles of dirt road to my house and give it a good lookover. I already ordered some filters for it. Any advice on what engine oil to use in the Continental engine? I was thinking of using 15-40 diesel oil as it is what I run in all my other equipment, but they are all diesels. -Scott
Thanks for the replies! I found out today that it is a 1965 model. On the data plate it says- York manufacturing inc. materials handling division, Hayward, Calif. I have not seen the lift in person yet, just pictures from my buddy who works for the company I bought it from. I will work on trying to figure out how to post a picture on this forum. Thanks- Scott
It is a York and they were sold by Baker in the 70's. You can get parts and info from PartsRParts in CA. Their phone # is 925.679.9396.
TM120 could be a taylor brand forklift.
I did a search for 'york forklifts' and the search engine did return a positive result but the site domain has been hijacked by a uk based website for pharmacutical's so that's a dead end. The description shown in the search engine did describe yorkforklifts website as dealing with used lifts.
anyhow, after doing a search for that model number you mention the top hit was for a taylor brand lift.
Have you got any pictures of this machine?
