Hello everyone. I just found this site and this is my first post so please bare with me. I just purchased an old Toyota forklift. It was used in a fish plant here in Newfoundland, Canada for many years. It's a bit rusty but pulls great. Lifts great and all of that. It do have a fuel issue. Black smoke and fouling the spark plugs but I'm going to pull the carb off and have a look and clean it out.
The problem I'm having is that there's no data plate on the dash and I can't find the body serial number anywhere else on the thing.
Is there a serial number stamped on the body?
There's an engine number I found and the number is # 5P-0007786
I think the beast might be a 4FG20. there is the number 20 on the rear counter weight.
I was also curious to know if I could purchase a new engine hood that the seat sits on? Mine is totally rusted out. Thanks for any info you can give. Paul
PS. Here's a few pictures! You'll have to copy and paste

I have an old Toyota 3.5t Diesel Forklift.
Model 02-3FD35 Serial 12388
Can anyone tell me the age of this forklift?
I need a few parts and it looks like its an early 1980's model BUT a lot of parts changed Pre & Post 1982.
I need the spring and locking mechanism for the Handbrake handle & some Tierod ends and steering ball joints etc.
I'm a bit stuck for which parts to get as I don't know eactly which forklift I have.
I would also like the parts manual & any other manuals, surely these are available on the Internet somewhere?
Also does anyone know which parts were interchangable with the Toyota Landcruisers of about that age (yes I know the 2H Diesel Engine is the same) as Landcruiser parts are very easy to get here in Australia, but Forklift parts are harder to get.
Any help, especially with the Month and year etc of the forklift would be very much appreciated.
Michael
The numbers on the frame should read something like 40-5FG15. The 4 & 0 represent the engine & trans, the 5 represents the series, the F & G represent F for forklift, the G for gasoline or LPG & the 15 represents the load capacity (3,000lbs). The important thing for both you guys is making sure that these units are not Grey market trucks, not meant for service in your repsective countries. They'll be a HUGE liability in terms of OSHA if someone gets hurt on them.
As far as a hood & rims, search used parts ( I use Atlanta lift for my used stuff )- new prices will be quite suprising I'd think.
I am also trying to find some info on an really old toyota forklift. the numbers that I can read on the body under the hood on the edge are possibly...U-zfo15-7u666 a sticker on the motor show 5r and the rest is not readable. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.
these tires take air correct or are they solid what are the other numbers 12.00by 4.00 or 12.00by 7.00 what are the numbers also I am looking into that hood and seat and get me a city that it would be shipped to I may have every thing u are looking for danfisher1975atyahoo
Thanks Bruce. Would anyone happen to know where I could get a new or used front 12 in drive wheel for my forklift. She got one wheel that's a lock ring type on one side and the other has a none lock ring type wheel but the off set is out past the side of the machine. Thanks again guys.
60-4FG25-20520 was manufactured June 12, 1985
Thanks Leon. I checked with my Canadian supplier for the engine hood and I just about dropped dead with the price. They want $3.650 dollars for the hood. I think I'm going to fabricate one.
Can anyone tell me the year of the forklift by my serial number? Thanks guys.
The model is probably 60-4FG25 the serial is 20520. If that correct part number i supplied they are about £360 sterling from TVH in belguim. You would probably be better sourcing one from canada or US there is sometimes slight differences with european trucks.
That's great info JonG. I scraped the right side and almost missed it but after used a wire bruch on a grinder I found the number. I can't tell if the "0" are actually "0" or just the letter "U". Anyway here is the serial number.
# 6U4FG25-2U52U All the "U" could be O's Thanks for the help guys.
Sometimes, the serial # can be found stamped on the frame where the hood meets, along the edge. It can also be found on the front of the unit behind the mast at the bottom - sometimes.
Thanks Leon. I attached a few pics of the hood and engine compartment. Maybe this might help to find the right model number. Any idea of the cost of the engine hood? Anywhere else I could get the VIN number for the forklift? Thanks, Paul

I think it is a 3FG20. if it is the bonnet part number is 52101-22000-71 or 52105-22000-71 if it has w/cyclone air cleaner.
