Hi everyone!! I have a C4000 Combilift s/n 4045 - with the GM 4 cylinder (cast iron head) that has no spark!! I have replaced the ignition coil and the ignition module to no avail. I have voltage at both the distributor & the coil. The rotor is turning when cranking, the leads test ok, cap & rotor look ok. This particular coil has two plugs that push in together to form a 4 pin plug. Negative side seems to test ok as does the 12v side. I'm wondering if maybe I have a distributor fault?

hi as i pointed out earlier it seems you have a break in the loom close to the distributer i would definitly be checking the wiring for a break i gather you have changed the distributer module? and placed any wires in the distributer in the correct place ie you havent shorted out any pos wires also make sure your engine has a good earth cable
although im sure richard from combi can help further
Hi,
Sorry to hear this is not yet resolved. As you are based in the Uk, and I don't have your contact details, can I get you to contact our Uk Technical team, via email on UK dot Services at Combilift dot com. I will send this chat onto them, so they will then be waiting for your email.
Hope you get this resolved
Thanks Richard
Hi Richard spoke with technical yesterday. We thought it was distributor but still no start. I have 12v to coil, new coil, new distributor and still no spark. It did start for a few seconds but stopped and again no spark. Pulling my hair out now.

Hi I have a similar problem mine has separate power supply to coil, running 7.5 amp fuse that blew. It's Been ok like thos for several years. The amps are around 5 to start with but after a few seconds it climbs to over 20 where tester maxs out. I've tried new coil and module on distributor. But still it dead shorts. I've tested wires to coil but no problem found. Can't find any diode. Help please
Hi Mr Pitt. Great advice from Skyreach and Scott re the wires to from the distributor and to not only test for continuity but also ohm as there is a diode in one of these that may have failed. You might need to replace one of these.

I haven't worked on many combe lifts but I might be able to help you first are you not getting spark to coil l would check the pick up coil inside the distributor there will be two wires ohm them out they should ohm between 500 and 900 ohms also give a light pull on them if they break that is your problem also undo them to ohm from module. If you need to change the distributor must be removed to install. hope l was of help.
hi there i have had a similar problem with same unit exactly same fault changed numerous things unit would run and sometimes not start or cut out when running check the wiring at the distributor plug and by that i mean grab the wires and pull them see if the wire is broken inside if it is the wire will stretch the outer plastic if you see what i mean the wiring is sometimes wrapped in an s shape and its to tight our wire was broken close to the dist plug i managed to solder it back temp repair and ordered that harness section from combilift it is only a very short piece of loom hope thats your problem
