Discussion:
No power

Recently this customer presented me with his problem. When starting his Yale LP, it will start up fine and idle is OK. In neutral you can rev the engine, but as soon as you select forward or reverse and press on the accelerator, it lags really bad until it just dies. Check the plugs and there were not fouled. Customer has said he recently replaced his muffler when the problem appeared. He says it will do this in cold weather but when it heats up, performance get alittle better. any ideas?

If this problem has not ben fixed yet 12/29/08 and all of the other areas check OK. Perform pressure tests on the torque converter. When fuel system, timing and getting air in and out of the engine all check OK. The usual culprit for this to only happen when the tranny is in gear is the torque converter. BUT it usually wont stall the engine, so make sure everything else is checked really good.

make sure the square cut o-ring from an old tank isnt lodged in the LPG tank coupling (no rubber parts in the brass fitting on the hose)

make sure there isnt a partial blockage in the exhaust

check for tar

make sure all your vacuum lines are hooked up right and make sure those air check valves are in the right way

also check for things like locked brakes or some other source of mechanical resistance

I would make sure to clean out the regulator and change the filter, very common to cause those symptoms, most guys do not dump the tar during services and it gets neglected. did he have this problem pre new muffler?

Hello Cesar, I would say its your propane system. Check your coolant levels (when cold) If good you will have have to put new kits in your carburetor, converter and/or lock off. When the truck is running check to see if the converter is Freezing up (Turning White).
