Discussion:
Nissan code P-22

I have a Nissan MCPL01A15LV s/n CPL01-9N2694 with a code P-22. The unit will go into forward or reverse then after a few feet it will set this code and quit moving. When the unit is put back into neutral the code goes away and it will move a few feet and reset the code.

Any advice
Thanks

I have never had to pull the steer wheel to change the f-n-r switch. If the combination / fnr plastic mount is broken you will have to remove the steer wheel to replace that part. The switch can be change by removing the plastics only. Best i can remember the switch has 2 or 3 phillips head screws that can be accessed from underneath. Hardest part is getting the roll pin out of the old switch for lever and reinstalling the screws that secure the switch unit to the switch mount.

What i used to do all day now takes me all day to do.
P-22 is a shift lever malfunction code it is either not seeing a signal for 2 seconds from the shift lever or it(the computer) is seeing both a forward and reverse signal at the same time from the shift lever switch.......sounds like the assembly needs to be replaced.......have to pull all the plastic from around the steering column....pull the steering wheel then the Combination switch assembly is held on with four screws...isn't to hard have done quite a few of them myself....bolts for pulling the steering wheel are metric thread(M8X1.25) make sure you screw them fully in did have one that gave me fits and had to reap the threads for new bolts....the steering wheel pulling is the hardest part of the whole process they can be really stuck on good....
