I'm a Hyster guy, and I totally agree with you about the Mazda's.
I've had a customer unit that overheated so badly that the sparkplugs turned blue and the seals in the tranny melted!
Sent the head out and changed the o-rings in the tranny and it's still running strong years later.
I know with shyster and yale you can specify the Mazda's in the new Fortis trucks.
They will outlast the GM's ~3:1 on rebuilds, plus they are so low on power that the drivetrain lasts longer as well.
Just to plug shyster a little more, the new duramatch trannys mated to a mazda 2.0L will definatley be the long lasting combo.
The new tranny is many times tougher than the old one and super adjustable as well. Heck you can even set it up so it can't spin the wheels when dumping inching. Saves on a lot of drive tires.
With tenders it is quite comonly asked what engine is fitted, but to specify a certain engine would not be something that we would not entertain in production.
You will be limiting your choice significantly if you specifiy a sepcif engine especially something as limited as a Mazda engine.
