Discussion:
Looking for the right piece of equipment for our new freezer

We just put up a new picking freezer for our shipping department. We are struggling currently to operate it efficiently. What was bought for us by management is a SHR 5500 stacker with reach capabilities.

It has been kind of a problem so far, it froze in a mast up position inside the freezer and it took two days to get it out. It also gives us very little room to maneuver. The reach out is great but side shifting would be nice too, which it doesn't have.

We're all wondering if something more like this would be better: CROWN RR5715-35 Standup Electric Reach Truck.

It needs to have a mast that is lower than 8 ft fully collapsed, it looks like we have about 95" of clearance needed. It needs to be able to operate in the cold. and it needs to have a greater level of dexterity than the hand stacker, which is way too bulky and powerful for our needs in that freezer.

We have a crown forklift which works great in our bigger freezer, we just need to figure something else out for the smaller one.

Any advice, input, thoughts, etc. would be fantastic.

Hi,
Not sure of what the different options are, but it is always a pity that you are not able to better utilise what you already have. Hopefully you can get dealer support to make the existing equipment more functional.
Alternatively, Combilift has a number of equipment types suitable for cold stores. The cold store spec Aislemaster is very useful both inside the cold store and outside if needed and is specifically designed for narrow aisles.
Hope you get sorted.
