Doosan (& Daewoo) GC30S-2:
Improper Lift Operation

I have a "head scratcher" here fella's any help would be much appreciated. We have a Daewoo GC30s-2 that has a lift issue. With no load on the forks the 1st stage of the mast completes its full travel to the top before the second stage begins to travel upward just as it should. However, when forks are loaded, the second stage will begin to travel upward when the first stage is only about 6 inches off the floor. All the stages then telescope as they continue to full travel.

Appreciate the info. I pulled the cylinder to see if they use a check valve to control flow and there is one in the inlet port but I think it's a safety valve for controlling carriage descent in case of say, a hose failure. I'm leaning more towards your worn cylinder theory. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Sounds like a problem in the free lift cylinder. If you have a parts breakdown, check to see if there is a check valve in the base of the free lift cylinder ram. If not you may have a worn wear ring in the cylinder.
