Hyster S50C

Having some issues and not sure how to go about them. the unit wont go into reverse or drive looks like I have two levers on the left side high & Low and below that lever I have a what I'm thinking is forward and reverse. When I push down on the cluck it does nothing when pushing the lever to go forward or reverse I'm assuming its not in low gear or high gear since it grinds when trying to move that into low or high. I've worked on cars for years but this forklift is odd to me. No dip stick to check transmission fluid? How do I check that or add some? What fluid type? No clutch master cylinder?? Whats the process to get this fixed? Thanks guys. I'm willing to take this apart just not sure what the steps are.

50C,

The dipstick might be a low profile and hard to see. The transmission should take dexron. The clutch may be mechanical linkage, no hydraulic cylinder. Takes about 10 to 15 years for the lift industry to catch up. Have you tried engaging the high low with the lift off? Make sure the direction lever is in neutral. Good Luck

First,

You are correct. One lever is for high or low speed and one is for travel. Check for the master cylinder and transmission dipstick under floor plate. The dipstick may be found just behind the mast.
