Discussion:
Hydraulics

Hey guys. I have and old boom lift with manual controls. All my hydraulics work fine except the tilt. When I use tilt I can see the flexible hose that runs to the hard lines on boom move a little but not much and I don't see anything on the flexible hoses on mast to the ram. Am I not getting enough pressure? Do I have a block somewhere in line? I'm lost. I did crack hose on tilt ram and cycled it and saw fluid come out. But still nothing. We topped off with hydraulic fluid, was it wrong kind? Anything will help.

I own an Automotech 7630.
I'd owned it for a few years and was using it under a Spitfire and later a Stag.
The breadth of the lift and where it elevates the car, i.e. not on sills, were the deciding factors for me.
There have been no issues with it, and it is simple to move.

I spoke with a lift rental who I knew before placing my order, and they were really helpful.

Kenneth,

Most hydraulic valve assemblies have two pressure relief valves. The lift is set higher than the tilt, (auxiliary functions). Due you have side shift function? If so hold it in pressure relief and operate the tilt function. Does it tilt correctly? If so suspect valve spool, seals in the spool, blocked line or fitting. Remove both hydraulic lines from the tilt cylinder, be sure nothing will fall or swing and hit anyone or anything. If not sure, suggest getting a qualified technician to test system. Move the tilt cylinder by hand if possible. Should it move easy, internal seals are worn out. Good Luck.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
