Discussion:
hydraulic pump

My hydraulic pump has a cap on it to put oil in it. What kind of oil does it take?

My forklift has armstrong steering, therefore it can't be the power steering pump. It is driven by fan belts and has to be the hydraulic pump. It was made in 1950.

Is that the pump that is driven by a fan belt and holds a qt. or 2 of oil? If so, it is the power steering pump and you could use a light weight hydraulic oil or ATF.
