Toyota FG20:
Help with identifying engine for parts

Hello everyone. I've got an old Toyota lift with model number FG20 17170 stamped on the body, and an engine stamped 2R 1652405. I believe this to be from 1967-1971, but I can't find anywhere to establish exactly when it was made. This was converted to LPG at some unknown point.

I'm trying to find some parts - specifically a head gasket (likely. I'm getting milky oil), an oil filter (actually need springs and seals and such for the old canister-type filter, or perhaps a spin-on conversion?), a muffler, etc.

I've managed to find ignition components from a 1970 Corona that worked, and the thing is running well. I'd like to keep it that way.

Any place to find info on this? A parts manual? A car that used this same engine that an auto parts store could reference?

Thanks in advance.

Showing items 1 - 5 of 5 results.
Toyota corona 1970-71 also on Hilux Toyota made these for Corona from 1964-1970.
The forklift engines usually are a little different
Considered industrial series however some were same as in cars ,may try at parts store to see if the parts will interchange

OK, I will be able to look through the old manuals in the morning, but I would have to see how I can get the manufacturer date.
It is probably too old to come up in the system.

This is indeed a 2R engine, but I don't see how that helps me unless all the 2R engines use the same parts. Looking up 2R engine parts on google gives almost no useful results (that is, useful to me). I can see a 2R overhaul kit for a forklift which could be correct, but also not useful to me.

My thinking is that, if I find a specific model year of car that would have this engine (based on the other numbers of the engine code, perhaps?), I can then find part numbers from an auto parts store, plus after-market stuff like a spin-on oil filter adapter, etc.

Is there a way to decode the rest of the engine number? Once again, it is 2R 1652405.

I've found a list of cars on wikipedia that have used (possibly) a 2R engine, but haven't had any luck with this specific engine and it's peripherals.

Thanks for your replies.

The engine type should be on the engine, either on the valve cover or on a flat area of the block near the distributor. 5R 4P.
If you don't get an answer, I will try to run it tomorrow and get a date for you.
