HELI does make its own transmissions, but HELI out sources components, and assembles transmissions. Actually, HELI and Hangcha use similar transmissions, no much difference because they have same transmissions & components suppliers.

Contact me to buy OEM transmissions & TM components for HELI and Hangcha forklifts, we are OEM supplier to HELI and Hangcha.

It could be so many things! You should check out the net and see what other people said. I am sure there is something that you could do to research it more.

Heli told me that they make their own transmission and HC and others do not use the same transmission as Heli. Lets face it, all manufacturers have problems at some stage so I would not label HC as a no good brand based on porous castings a few years ago.
I remember about 2005 / 2006, a bunch of new JCB backhoes came to my country, all (approx 10) had front axle problems, so does that make JCB a bad product? The newest Catrerpillar Backhoes (428E) has some brakes issues, that does not make the equipment junk.
There is a company here that has been using 3 - 4 HC 2.5 TON lpg units, most of the units are the current R Series with 3,000 hour plus on them and the company has had no major issues and less than a handful of minor ones.
The company is quite happy and is willing to buy HC again.
My views are based on fact, while I am still concerned about the brand and their transmissions, I would not categorize them as junk.
I would like to see or hear about some units is a heavy application and how well the stand up

Heli, Hangcha,Dalian, Xiamen Great Whale,Guangzhou, to name a few all use the same tranny. My guess is the rest do to. On a visit to the Hangcha (Hangzhou) factory a few years ago I met the engineer from the transmission factory to discuss the issue of porous castings...they weren't much help!

If you have the choice between a genuine Heli and any other chinese machine choose Heli

They are the only chinese truck that is a safe bet.

My problem is I am unsure of the rest who makes what,

are they copies of heli, are they heli rebadged and why if you look for heli are you redirected to some other site.

Is this done with heli permission or is it just piracy

Hi All,

Assuming that those Hangcha forklifts use Nissan engines, I am ok with that, what I am concerned about is the quality of the transmissions.
I am looking at a 5 ton unit from Hangcha, it comes with a Chinese built Trans.
How durable are these transmissions? We will give it good service, the question is just how long before it breaksdown.
I know that Tailift is recommended but at this time, I have to choose between heli and Hangcha.
The unit will be used in rental with usage of approx. 160 hours per month.

Thanks RTD

I was not aware of that.

It is just that your machines look different to any Tailift machine I have seen, Tailift look more like Nexen. Hubtex have a good reputation here for sideloaders etc but that market is now tiny. A hubtex counterbalance might sell.

ARTISON a trading style of Tailift of Taiwan. They have solid dealers in Europe especially in the UK ,Italy and Germany. They are not resultant of of Puma/Yang, in fact the company that emerged from Puma Yang is now called LS Yang building for the local Taiwan market and a little export. Artison/Tailift are now in the top twenty of manufacturers worlwide.Other Tailift brands are Arctic Hare, Eagle, Gpower with OEM manufacturers like Narrow Aisle, Liftking, Hubtex and OMG utilising their quality and price to achieve repeat business, unlike some of the chinese factories.

A "European Artisan" may be possible but who are they..

In theory there is an Artisan dealer nearby so that is not on.

Were they not an offspring of the Yang/Puma people from Taiwan ?

If you want great quality and reliability try Artison! They're from Tailift in Taiwan.
Having imported trucks from Dalian, Irisman,Hangzhou (which were a real headache)and visited over 15 Chinese plants, you won't find better than Artison. We have placed trucks in really hard jobs and they just keep working.
They also make trucks for other European manufacturers.
A 5 star truck for 4 star prices (and spares are easy to find too!)

Hi,

would you say the Heli Quality is good? would you compare it to a TCM or a Japanese machine?

About 8 / 10 years ago I had about 30 or so of Heli units and they were OK, Almost all are still running.I have seen some other Chinese trucks that make me agree with your general sentiments, However I have a need for a more economical line to satisfy people that just cannot justify the high price of premium lines. My problem was that when I try to contact Heli I was getting passed over to other brands , some of which look very similar,

As I don't want a cheaper Heli copy I probably will end up following your advice an run the other direction.
