Steponmebbbboom,

I strongly recommend that you post accurate information if you are going to post in this "reputable" forum. I assure you, as the Canadian distributor of Heli forklifts, that Steponmebbbboom's statements are inaccurate for current Heli products. He is merely a basher with strong ties to the competition. I recommend that everyone do there own due diligence when purchasing a forklift.

in our cheap and crappy NA culture, I am sure Heli will sell well. If Walmart is any gauge of the public's understanding of quality, look out indeed, China is coming.

Here's a point of contention, All of the hydraulic hoses on the Heli lift trucks use a metric flat-face O ring fitting that is not available locally, it either has to be ordered from the dealer at hideously high prices (I was quoted almost $500 for one section of hose) or the fittings have to be custom ordered from an aftermarket mfr with engineering costs, or, the swivel end has to be cut off the old fitting and silver soldered onto a modified stock fitting. On a typically $30 sideshift end hose I am paying upwards of $150 to have this done. Also, every hose seems to be attached on at least one end to a union that is also a weldment, so a full conversion to JIC or something isnt feasible.

"top 20" by units sold. That has nothing to do with their quality. I will also tell you that their quality, and parts availability have not significantly improved. I continue to service Heli trucks for our customers and continue to have these problems. Heli is an inferior truck. Wal-mart special.

I think the last time we had this discussion the topic was deleted.

Heli is the largest manufacturer of forklifts in China. They supply forklifts to a country with a population of over 1 billion people and a booming economy. I suspect that Heli wouldn't have to sell any forklifts outside of China to rank in the top 20. The questions I would ask are how many forklifts did Heli sell outside of China, the dollar value of those sales, and the geographic spread of those truck sales. Parts availability follows those items.

All that being said: Beware US forklift manufacturers - The Chinese are coming!

I´m surprised by the comments. Heli has been available in Argentina for 11 years. The first few years the transmission system gave problems. The engines mostly Isusu were always good. Now the quality is excellent the spare parts supprt no problem. They are selling very well with many repeat buyers. Todaqy they are a better price-quality combination than many of the traditional brands.

The after sales is really bad and the forklift too. If you don't believe go and buy one for you to experience it. After you buy pls. tell others too so that they will not repeat the same mistake.

I sold that brand three years ago. I had nothing but problems from overheating to wiring problems, transmission problems.

Who did you buy the truck from? I guarantee that you did not buy them from Heli Canada.

Sorry Jim that ship has sailed, the last three units we have were slid into the rental fleet after the customers made us take them back.

Thanks anyway.

Scout,

Heli's whole distribution system has changed along with machine itself. Many improvements have been made. We just did an overhaul to the electric units and many improvements have been made. Parts are available from your Heli dealer network throughout Canada. Master truck and parts distribution is out of Ontario.

If you have any problems with getting parts, please contact me and I will assist. My number is 1-877-435-4352.

We used to be a dealer, some of the pnuematics were fair to average but the electrics are awfull. I would strongly suggest you research this thoroughly before you decide on purchasing it. If you do decide to buy one, buy an extra one to rob parts from.

Nobody argue that the heli is not the best truck in the industry. But every truck has its own market. For some applications, Heli is a perfect fit. Keeping in mind enormous scale of china business, it will be quite painful for some manufacturers.

by the way, in a year or two, I think Heli will be within first ten OEMs. (remeber Lenovo-IBM story.) they will just buy somebody. Who is for sale..? Linde...:-)
Watch what's going to happen..

U.S. Modern Materials Handling magazine has issuing, usually in August, top 20 lift truck supplier. Anhui Heli appeared already in this list from 2003 ranking (published 2004Aug). MMH started this survey since 1992.

In every December, German industrial magazine "dhf" publishes forklift annual sales ranking. Dr. Degenhard has edited this forklift world ranking even from the time of "Foerdermittel Journal". 2004/2005 version is their 25th issue and Anhui Heli ranked 17th, 104 million euros, for the first time.

Yes, Toyota is a giant. But, in this world of forklift, I count more than 200 manufacturers and big does not always mean good.

Hi leobert,
Forkliftaction.com published an article in issue #242 about dhf-intralogistik magazine's world ranking of forklift manufacturers. The ranking is according to forklift sales/year. You can view the article here: http://www.forkliftaction.com/news/newsdisplay.asp?nwid=2926.

Forkliftaction.com is the publication, Leobert! Heli is just behind Clark as the 15 largest manufacturer of forklifts in the World. Heli manufactured over 30,000 forklifts in 2005.

Really? wow!!! And what kind of magazine was it? Never recall reading a chinese manufacturer as top 15 manufacturing in the world. Maybe if you give the name of publication.
