Discussion:
Have lift functions but no traction

I have a 1999 hyster order picker. Lift functions work however it will not move forwards or backwards.
There is an error light on on the motherboard?(for lack of a better word). I've been combing over fuses and relays. Everything looks ok but this wouldn't be my first time being wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

look on the board at each led location, should have numbers on the board for each one
the green light is just a power indicator, it is not an error led

ok, on this steering board there are 6 led lights labeled 1-6 from left to right.
there are several configurations of how these lights will light up

steering lever centered = 1 and 2 are lit
steering lever moved in clockwise position = 1 is lit
steering lever moved in counter clockwise position = 2 is lit
high lift traction shut-off mode = 1 and 2 blinking in alternating sequence (back and forth)
MDU turned in wrong direction = 1 and 2 alternating, 4 and 6 lit solid
MDU did not turn = 1 and 2 alternating, 3 and 6 lit solid
MDU signal out of range = 1 and 2 alternating, 4 lit solid
steering signal out of range = 1 and 2 alternating, 3 lit solid
MDU and steering signal out of range = 1 and 2 alternating, 3, 4 lit solid
checksum error = 1 and 2 alternating, 3,4,5,6 lit solid
watchdog reset = all leds alternating
no power to ecm = all led's off

so what are the led's doing on yours?

The board with the error light is in the compartment with the steering motor.

It's an R30XMS
C174NO1563W

I'm about ready to buy a box of cut off wheels and start making trips to the scrap yard.

error light on motherboard?
where is this component located your looking at?
is it the controller mounted on top above the battery?
or is it a board or component mounted on the frame beside the motor in front of the steering motor?
the traction controller is mounted on the panel on top of the battery, the steering controller or EPS is mounted down on the frame beside the drive motor on the opposide side of the panel in front of the steering motor.
The drive controller probably has an led light on it and if there is an error it would be blinking the code, if there is an EPS error it would be blinking a code there.
in either case the error code should be displaying on the BDI unless it has an old style with no led display on it.
