Evening all, H25D 1991 model steering link pins and bushes. I thought these where going to be dead easy, that was untill I started the job, absolute nightmare nothing would shift and then all the new bits where just as tight. anyone else got experience with these?

I do this out in the field. auto parts has a ball joint service kit, looks like a big seaclamp. jack up rear of truck about 3 feet and knock out roll pins, place c- clamp on pin and use impack to push pins up. and do the same to in stall.pull steer cyl and repack and reinstall in say 4 hours
..Simon, I would love to get a pic of that press that you speak of, It surely would help out in my build!

Nick, I'm sure you've got the idea about what sort of press you need but if you like I can send you a pic. I used a mast cross brace and tilt box to make mine, then add a big bottle jack and a few different length M14 bolts then sorted!
Can I get this picture. Please send it to my e-mail address in my profile. Thank you!

First thing I did when I started for my new outfit was make a **** press!! lol. Still use the same axle in the mid range machines and your shafted without a 20 ton bottle jack and a good pressing arm!!. The difference between a days work and 2 hours!.
Anyway... Hiya Herald!. I remember talking to you some time ago about the job scenario down here in sunny devon as you were pondering a move. Was wondering if your still curious as the newish company I work for now need another engineer ( I'm **** flat out!! lol). If so bung me an email at simondotking3atvirgindotnet
If you could chuck us a mail even if it's not for you I'd be grateful!....
Hi nick
glad you got it sorted,it does look a easy job when you start it,often thought the roll pins to hold in the link pins are a bit unneccasary, never seen one fall out,if only.

Hi Herald, thanks for that, I guessed they where probably a shrink fit, it took a good few tons on the press to take it apart but i got there in the end and then had the new parts machined to give an easier fit. Regards, Nick.
Hi nick
Yes the pins in the link bushes will need to be removed with a press and also the new ones pressed in,i have got them out with a hammer but its easy to mushroom the ends and make the job even harder.
Linde build the axles with the pins put in at a VERY low temperature then as they warm up they tighten up,
