Just found this truck which had the same code. Make sure to check your steer motor brushes and commutator.

The latest ver of software for your truck is VM 7.7 and Display 5.6. Updating your version can go along way in solving your GD issues.

Steer card only gives code G4. Not the problem
Before doing anything, check radial ring wear. If worn, steer motor amps go up. GD code
if brushes are worn on steer motor, GD code. If toothed ring slips on drive unit, GD code
If steer prox is not even at full CC. CW turns, GD code, Stee prox adj clearence is.020 thou. Check it. If it's hitting the steel rail, Radial rings are shot
If steer motor spline slips, GD encoder fails, GD
If dog **** on right rear load wheel, GD code.
Good luck...let me know what you find...or...do like most people on this site, never respond and leave us hanging!

There isn't a good test for the steer amp. I recommend swapping it with another lift. I have seen this issue multiple times caused by the steer amp.

Even though the test for the steer encoder passes, the encoder still could be faulty. Also, if flash ware has not been updated recently, you might should try that. Raymond had a lot of issues with random GDs on earlier versions of flash ware. If you flash ware is current, I would put a new steer encoder bearing in it. If that doesn't fix it, it could have a faulty steer amp. Also, worn ring and **** could cause this code. Worn steer motor brushes could also cause it.
