Discussion:
Front wheels spin in opposite directions

Hello all, I have been dealing with this Combi that has me racking my brain on where to start. The unit has an intermittent issue that seems to be related to hydraulic pressure. When the unit is put into crabwalk mode and driven, sometimes the front wheels will try to spin in opposite directions creating an aggressive hop making load handling unsafe. I have went through the calibration procedure multiple times and cleaned and ensured all prox sensors are working but have had no luck finding any info on this particular issue. I'm aware that fluid can leak past the seals in the steer cylinders, but am unsure of which cylinder to point to. there are no issues with the rear wheel from what i can tell operating the unit and no issues in forward or reverse travel, only crabwalk. Any help anyone could chip in would be appreciated. I have also tried a spare timer with no change as well.

Hi Mac,
Good you have checked the proxys etc are clean and if your truck is turning into sideways mode then you have confirmed all is well there.
You mentioned the steering cylinder internal leaks. If the truck is going into side ways mode then the proxy and steer cylinders are all ok. If the front wheel are out of aligned when in front driving mode then follow the steering purge process (decal in cab)
You mentioned one of the wheels was turning in the wrong direction when in side ways mode. There is a valve that changes the flow of oil to the front right wheel motor when the truck is changed into sideways mode. You are most likley not getting power to this valve.
Here are a couple of video's that should help you better understand the system,

If you need additional technical support. Plese go to www.combilift.com , scroll to the bottom and select "Technical support" Fill out the form and one of the technical team will contact you. This works worldwide, no log in is required and is free regardless of the truck age..

Hope this helps.
