Raymond 7400:
forks raise when reach/retract is pressed

Model 7400. AC drive and lift. The forks drift up when reach / retract is pressed. I have adjusted the prop valve (sol 2) and I can correct the issue. Problem is, when prop valve is adjusted to eliminate the fork drift, I am unable to feather the lower. If I adjust the prop valve to regain feathering of the lower function, I have the fork drift issue. Seems I can either get one or the other, but not both.

Pulled the prop valve and checked for metal in the valve. I actually pulled almost all the valves and checked them. found no foreign objects.

Any advice????

Just a follow up. I resolved the issue by removing the potting compound from SOL3 which exposes the spring tension adjusters. I then backed the adjusters off a bit (about 1/4 turn) while cycling the reach. When the carriage stopped raising, I stopped adjusting. I then set the prop valve (SOL 2) according to the manual.

I threw some epoxy in the valve where I had removed the factory epoxy and let that set up.

So basically I adjusted the non-adjustable relief valve.

Instead of removing this post, I'll leave it up in case someone else has this issue.

Saved me over 500 bucks to replace SOL3 :)
