Discussion:
Flashing code: C0 in neutral, forward and reverse, but drive motors sound good.

I've got a new to me, Toyota electric forklift (model 5FBE18) and it has a flashing C0 code as soon as I turn the key and it does not matter if it is in neutral, forward or reverse.

The dash shows the battery is getting low on charge, but there are three bars left.

It looks like the seat switch and park brake switch have been hot-wired, but all the other connections look like they have not been monkeyed with.

I jacked up the front of the lift and when I manually engage the forward or reverse contactor (MFL or MFR), the drive wheels turn at a high rate of RPM independent of the throttle pedal, but they sound smooth and quiet.

I'm guessing it has a problem on the controller board...does this sound right?

Any help is appreciated.

I found the small DRD diode was installed backwards and is burnt/shorted. Then I tested the main transistors and all three are shorted between the gate and drain. I don't know if the incorrect installation of the DRD diode caused it or not and I do not know the history of the lift nor what has been monkeyed with.

I've got the parts one order and will update with results.

There is a TSB from Toyota about code CO on these trucks. It says to check the drive motor brushes and brush holders. Make sure the brushes are not stuck in the holders and move freely and are contacting the motor. Inspect the brushes and blow out the drive motors if you can.

In 1923, French tennis player René Lacoste was promised a crocodile leather suitcase by his captain if he won his next match. He lost the match but won the nickname "the crocodile" which he had sown onto his tennis attire. Ten years later he launched the first polo shirt and Lacoste, the first brand to feature a logo on its clothing.
