Discussion:
E-24 wont clear for more than a day

I have a lift truck that is displaying E-24, I have cleaned the throttle and checked all of the wiring for the throttle and accelerator peddle as well as slightly reducing the movement of the peddle. I have done the peddle dance and it goes away for a day or two but then comes back. There are no damaged wires though I haven't tested the current through the wires yet. The fact that the error goes away for a period of time before coming back has me confused. I would imagine that if there was reduced power or a worn out sensor it wouldn't go away at all. Or would come back on very soon after the dance. When it goes away the forklift operates like normal with no issues, but when it comes back it has no power and tops out at about 2.5 mph. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for the help. I replaced the sensor and everything seems to be good now, but if it shows the error again I will look into getting a scanner.

your getting a bad signal between the ecm and the pedal position sensor
the pedal position sensor wiring could be damaged but most likely the sensor is bad.
when you turn on the ignition you should hear the throttle body calibrate itself during the self check and if it and the pedal position sensor are within tolerances it should pass the check and allow you to start the engine without error.
if your clearing the code and it runs ok for a while and then errors out there is a high chance the wiper inside the pedal sensor is worn.
the best way to check this is to plug in the pc diagnostic program and monitor the pedal signal. If the truck has an obd plug on the harness you can get an obd scanner and maybe do the same.

which set is that? I am new to working on forklifts (and engines in general) there are multiple bands of wiring coming from the throttle body and I don't know where the ecm is located.
