Discussion:
Driver saw sparks!

Good day,

Today the driver of 1 of my E30P electric forklifts got in the seat and says he heard & saw sparks under the seat when he jumped in. I have checked the 2 main fuses the emergency stop the 2 fuses in the lift control compartment and the lane of fuses in the rear hood.

Any ideas?

How he explained like it came from under the seat so I was thinking it might have been somthing to do with the under seat sensor.

I might try to get the operator to better explain or show where he saw the sparks, a motor under the battery might show the light of sparks reflected on the floor, which is still "under the seat" to some operators...

Well I doubt its this because I have steering but no lift or drive. The electronic brake disengages when forward or backward pedal is pushed.

One other thing to check is the battery cables from the battery to the connectors, had a clarkTM once that did this, cables had some slack in them and the positive cable rubbed till it got a bare spot then would arc somtimes.........just one more thing to check

Is the seat deck shorting/hitting the battery top??? do you see any black spots on the underside of the deck that looks like arcing has taken place??
