DRIVE MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR

IS THERE ANY WAY AVOIDING THE HIGH COST OF TOYOTA I NEED TO REPLACE THE SENSOR ON THE DRIVE MOTOR IT GIVES ME THE TEMPERATURE CODE ON THE DASH EVEN WHEN THE UNIT IS COLD I TRIED BUYING THE SENSOR BY ITSELF BUT TOYOTA SELLS IT AS A COMPLETE UNIT (DRIVE MOTOR) DO I HAVE TO PAY THE 1800 DOLLARS TO HAVE TOYOTA REPLACE MY SENSOR? CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH THIS SENSOR?

try disconnecting the 2 wire plug at the motor and put a 1000 ohm resistor between the tenminals. i have never tried this but if it works you can epoxy a similar temp sensor to the outside of the motor. (or just do without one)
