Also bad travel potentiometer will cause your issue. You have to take control pod at top of handle completely apart to replace it. It will take several small to medium size torx bits or screw drivers to get to it. 4 screws holding handle in tiller, thumb wheel screws, two holding up or down button in place and two at bottom. The pot is in between the thumb wheels, not sure of cost. I can change one out in 20 minutes but I have changed quite a few lol
Pull the knuckle cover off, sounds like you have a partially broken wire in Harness or the two switches on either side brk and override have a broken wire or not adjusted properly, could also be worn tiller shaft bushings causing those two switches not to function correctly. Do you have side to side play in handle aka tiller? Those two bushings being worn will cause the brake and override switches not to actuate properly. You can bend the lil actuator arms to get it working correctly
Typically if you are having issues traveling in one direction a fix would be to calibrate the directional pot and switches, but you need a curtis handset to be able to do this. Crown will have this handset.
I tend to try never to rule out batteries without testing them even if they are brand new. Recently there has been a large ammount of batteries that die a few months after installation no matter the brand. I'm not sure why the quality recenty dropped off the last few years but I have had to complete a lot more warranty claims over the last 2 years.
From my memory I think costco batteries are rebranded Interstate Batteries, which are not my favorite battery brand.
Best of luck, let me know if you have any questions. I work on alot of these pallet jacks.
Do you have any suggestions on how I can start to find the problem if it isn't the batteries since it doesn't show a code? It will run perfectly pushing even loaded but once I try to pull it'll make a click sound & stop then not go any direction until turn it off and on then it'll push again however it won't pull even not loaded
Thank you I appreciate the info, I'll do that. Th batteries are brand new so I highly doubt it's that.
The BDI "code" you are seeing stands for Battery Display Indicator. This is normal and should appear normally. The number displayed after the BDI message indicates the battery percentage.
If it doesn't want to move in one direction it most likely has to do with the handle and not the batteries. The best way to test the batteries is to place your dvom leads into the main positive and negative cables. You should see a voltage of >24v. Then while watching that value, lift the forks fully and see how far the voltage drops. If it drops more than 15% then most likely one or more of the batteries is dead.
Otherwise to solve the issue you will have to dive deeper into the issue to find the cause.
