Bt Industries RRE200CC:
Code 1:581

So, somehow (probably slack-chaining) "somebody" tore the mast/camera cable all to shreds on one of our new lifts.
It was waiting at the shop for me, not sure how it got there, because it won't move with the cable shredded... all kinds of codes.
Now.... I have the new cable installed and CODE 1:581.
If I go to "limp mode " I get the seat switch error coming up. If I go to Stage 4 item 12 (seat switch monitoring) it's stuck on zero, ie: not switching , seat occupied or not. So now I gotta wait for a new seat switch , and see if that fixes the seat switch problem.
My biggest fear is that when the cam/mast cable got shredded... did it take out the MCU and or CID with it ??

Only re-occurrence is when mast cable gets shredded and shorts/grounds out and blows fuse F73.
Our units "live" in the freezer -20 Celcius.
The relay is actually "frozen"?

Hello unclesi,
Have you had any reoccurrence of code 1:581, We are having the code appearing on RRE 1800cc when left in -25 freezer.
No fuses blown just relay on fuse box frozen, tried insulating base of box.

Once you get your head round how all the RRE electrical systems work it's a pretty simple truck & easy to work on.

Its very rare to get a true electrical fault on an RRE, only one's we seem to see now are where someone's knocked a sensor, bent a sensor bar on the mast or the mast cable gets damaged as in your case.

Sometimes the calibrations need a little adjustment after a while but that's simple enough to do.
The on board diagnostics with the aid of can key makes life simple,

Thanks for the explanation. I'm learning something new every day on these units, I'm learning to love the diagnostics as I get more comfortable with them.
Thanks again !!

F73 is the fuse that should blow to protect the rest of the electronic systems if the mast wiring loom is shorted out, the F73 fuse is very important as you have found out.

The RRE will try to protect itself when a serious electrical fault is detected, it can even turn off individual circuits / or even put the truck in to limp home mode.

Normally switching the truck OFF or better yet pulling the battery isolator with the truck powered up & then powering it back up after a minute will allow it to its self diagnoses & if the fault has gone it will reactivate the circuit in question.

BUT, service manual (freshest freshest manual like Jan. 2014) says for 1:581... first check fuse F74 , but then proceeds to say that F74 has been deleted after S/N 6206800.
But I check it anyway, and it's good. Then in desparation I check ALL fuses with VOM and sure enough right next door F73 (7.5 Amp) is blown.
Replace the F73 and BINGO code is gone... seat switch suddenly works, life is good ??
Continue on replacing shredded cable ( with new one connected, temp. not final...just so I can raise the mast ) and the mast will not go above free lift ?? SS , tilt , all good, but stops dead at free lift transition , and pump is running, but sounds like its in relief??
Carry on with cable peplacement.... finish, run the mast up to check if it's still stuck.... up she goes right to the top ???
Now working perfectly.... ??
Maybe the tore up cable raised a lot of issues that it had to sort through, scrambled its brains a bit ?? I dunno ??
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Sorry this dragged on forever !!

Whats the serial number of the RRE?

Seat adjusted correctly with green band facing upwards when sat on it?

Truck powered up, unplug battery & wait at least a minute to reset the CAN BUSES.
