Discussion:
Clark EPX25 A/C Motor Problem

Guys
I've been having seriuos troubles with a Clark EPX25 traction motor. We overhauled it and replaced the encoder bearing twice and Zappi controller, along with controller reprogramming. The problem is that the motor dos not get up to speed and FWD is Rev and vice-versa. We checked the phases and they are correct.
The motor was overhauled beacause oil seal in axle leaked oil inside the motor.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
OB1

Guys, thanks for all your help. It was not the motor, it was not the controller. It was a problem in between. It seems the customer had messed around with the harness and had swapped some cables internally. This is what happens when customers try to become technicians themselves and their main business is something else, in this case, vegetable grower!

Cheers!

I would say that you should humor me and swap any [but only] 2 cables on the traction motor (or at the controller, which ever is easier) and then let us know what happens..

"it's not rocket surgery"
Traction controller was installed in the other truck in order to confirm it was OK and it was. It worked perfectly

Hi Obi1

Its been a long day :) I am not sure if I am reading this correctly?
You changed the traction and pump controller across, and the fault moved from traction to pump motor and your traction then worked ok?

Surely if that is correct it then establishes a problem in the controller itself?

Then when you tried the traction controller in another truck, were you trying the one you had just changed from the pump side??

Thanks for your message Elektrodrive. Motor has been overhauled correctly. This was confirmed twice. No errors codes are present. We have not calibrated the throttle pot, but not sure if this is causing the problem.
We exchanged Pump Controller with Traction Controller, and Traction motor works perfectly, but Pump motor works slowly just as it did with the Traction motor. We tried the Traction controller in another EPX25 and it works perfectly, so we are disregarding a problem with the controller itself.
We really have no idea what is wrong!!!

Hi Obi1

I had an AC toyota last year which had motor replaced and when they refit the motor it went the wrong way too. if i am correct i was told to swap around the 2 outside motor cables for it to travel in the opposite direction. Just double check that info with some others before you do so please.

Its possible when the motor was overhauled this happened internally?? it happened to me :)

Also when its going slow is it throwing up any errors? With the zapi systems the throttle pot needs to be recalibrated with the handset.
