Discussion:
Chinese lifting chains

Hi, Just got a batch of BL566 chain in to replace primaries on a Hyster E60Z and remembered a W**** manager talking about his experiences with Chinese lifting chains that have been supplied lately. Apparently the swaging of the pins is very weak and allows the pins to turn in the outer link plates easily (we all know that turned pins on a lift chain is an automatic fail because wear in the joint between the pin and the outer link plate will lead to the outer link plate popping off the chain).
My own tactile experience cutting this chain (Zangzhou or whatever it said on it) bears out that theory because after grinding the heads off two pins to drive them out, they telescoped out of the outer plates on the other side easily. This chain is going into service on a triple-shift truck in a large account, one of several hundred trucks at one location. I have concerns about using this chain but have no documentation to back up my concerns. If anyone has something to share (identifying information will be blacked-out) please e-mail me. Also if you have observed this failure please post your experiences. I procured this chain from a well-known local supplier. Thanks

Whenever we have lift chain supplied we are always given a copy of the test certificate.

Surely this Chinese lift chain has been tested / approved for use in some way?

In my opinion if the chain is that low of quality i would return it to the vendor or who you purchased it from and aquire it elsewhere. Due to liability reasons dosent make sense to use something that important that could possible hurt, maime or kill someone.
