The rumours are that IMPACT is taking the CAT dealership, is this true? If this is the case then what will happen to NISSAN?
How will IMPACT deal with the change in products having just converted customers to NISSAN from TOYOTA.?
Am sure it will be testing times to promote the truck that is only CAT by badge. Am sure I recall that the CAT engine/elec C/B trucks are MITSUBISHI and the Warehouse kit is ROCLA, can this work for IMPACT?

Will Toyota want a competitor in this building. If Impact get it ,it would be a good base for them to set up for the north of England
with easy access to both north east and north west as well as Holland So you could see Impact wanting it.
EERRRMMMM Am not sure my last guess was correct , never mind it was a guess !! I have been told that Nissan in Yorkshire is going to be taken up by a company in Sheffield called CAM.
CAM have been selling Nissan from Forkway and more recently from Impact for years. So as Nissan scales down its UK set up it looks as if its going for the on your door step local dealer. Good luck to CAM. Bet Atlet are still going to open doors with it. Time will tell. Impact are now looking at the Toyota building next to the M62 have Toyota moved out now. That will please Forkway with its newish depot in Doncaster as am sure Impact will close its Doncaster site. Mind you that old Toyota building will hold a lot of CAT trucks.
Nissan will be rubbing there hands they will be able to compete with there competition on the a level playing field.Only companies that won't be happy is carrylift.
Let's not think for a minute that NACCO are going to care what name is on the truck as a manufacture it's about moving metal and who better to move both brands than Briggs. Its worth pointing out that Briggs in the states have both YALE and HYSTER under its belt, this also extends into South America. So with this in mind it's not the brand it's the almighty Barlow that may be closing the doors on HYSTER "How big a Shock would that be" Barlow Doosan "has a ring to it" :). Oh and if IMPACT think that Briggs are going to walk away from its existing accounts how very wrong they are. Am told even Forkway are eating away at Barlow customers with the YALE product. Same product better service I guess. Too late for Impact and the CAT deal its signed, just take a look at the website it's just a link to the global CAT site. I think Nissan will now go via the ATLET network.
Briggs wont aquire Barlow Handling,NACCO have made it clear they dont want there 2 products sold out of the same company, you just have to look at the Australian dealer ships that NACCO have done deals with granting yale dealerships to companies that already have hyster dealerships saying you either sell one or the other but not both,
Millreef you may think that italian crap is crap but I can tell you any Company who bought leased or hired it never had it broke down for more than 48 hrs usually sorted and up and running with in 24 and often fixed the same day. I cant say the same for our cat beast.
I dont think Impact should go a head the cat deal if there getting the same deal as briggs had they wont be happy.

Fork off, it's not the reach trucks that are unreliable but the mechanics who are incapable of fixing the faults as they are predominantly mechanical engineers short on electrical knowledge.

looks like the competition is hotting up. Who next probably Barlow saying they have a better deal than Briggs. All still have a long way to go to catch Linde,Toyota, And Junghienrich. Impact are going to have there work cut out the people who will be best happy will be Nissan they will be glad they got out of the Impact deal watch out for Atlet pushing Nissan ic trucks
Impact Handling has been appointed as an official Cat Lift Trucks dealer with immediate effect, becoming the exclusive dealer for the whole UK market on 1st October.

Millreef you got that right , But also service comes into account if was price alone then Linde,Toyota ect would never get ride of any trucks and every one would use Chinese trucks If Impact do take on the Cat Dealership and go national then they would be better looking at the service engineers at briggs instead of the sales team.But again i think MCFE would be better going it alone with a good dealer network maybe using Impact for Mitsi as a national dealer then using the dealer network as sub dealers. One thing is for sure though Briggs will have there work cut out trying to push Yale.
Do you really think the Mitsi is cheaper than the Cat?
A company that buys 2,500 trucks a year will always get a lower price than a bunch of Mitsi fits who collectively buy around 300 from MCFE.
The reason the Cat was more expensive in the marketplace was nothing to do with the price of the truck but more to do with the higher cost base that Briggs had compared to the low cost Mitsi dealers. It was Briggs need for a higher margin that made the Cat appear more expensive than the Mitsi.
Impact with their lower cost base than Briggs will be able to offer existing Cat users a lower rental rate for the Cat than Briggs could.
Unless Briggs do something about lowering their cost base they will be offering the Yale at around the same rental rate as they did with Cat.
Customers are not interested in what the product is but are interested in how low the rental rate is.
Its all about investment if MCFE back the mitsi dealers and do the same as Linde did years ago they will take the briggs business. Linde got ride of Lansing a good British company Junghienrich got ride of Boss a gain a strong British company with its own sales network. The Cat truck is a Mitsi painted yellow there is no real reason to pay much more for the same truck. Customers aren't stupid they will see through the impact deal and Mitsi will lose out on both ends because Briggs will convert most of there main customers to Yale be fore the contracts end. Most of these customers will have singed up for five years so after three or four years Briggs will move Yale in leaving cat out in the cold. MCFE by relaunching the Misti trucks and a new type of dealer network can win the customers over at half the cost. Rushlift who were said to take on Cat are a Misti dealer so the experience is there the new dealers should be called Mitsubishi XYZ like Linde Jewsbury's This would give the customer the confidence of working with a large organisations who can handle national accounts like Linde dose
If the Mitsi dealers are so good why do they only have 1% of UK market? The Cat brand had around 12% at its peak and even the CAT sub dealers collectively sold a similar number as the Mitsi dealer network.
The mitsi dealers are not good enough to increase sales above their current level.
MCFE policy is to have two brands in the market place, Cat sold to the medium to large customers and Mitsi to the small to medium size customers. Impact will be targeted at the larger user accounts and that is why MCFE are trying to build a National sales team for Impact.
The Cat range of machines is just a waste of yellow paint. Every man and his dog knows that they are Mitsi and Rocla and have no connection to the Cat brand other than the stickers. I agree with Dave160 in that it would make much more sense to spend any spare marketing cash on the Mitsi product and support the Mitsi dealers rather than spend anything on the Cat brand. With Briggs leaving the Cat dealership and if MCFE play it right, it could save them vast sums of cash and increase their market share. I feel the delay in appointing a Cat dealer is proof that you don't need one.
MCFE would be better of putting all there backing behind the Mitsy dealers. They are already in place and have shown they can take big accounts. They could do it the same way as Linde did twenty years ago.
Millreef, are you claiming that MCFE is making deals that Impact is going to have to live up to? (MCFE writing checks that Impact will have the money come out of their accounts to pay for?)
