cat gp25k lift cylinder

anyone replace free lift cylinder seals , can it be done on site

It's not so difficult if you know anything more about hydraulic,cylinder construction and principle of operation...ofcourse it will be good to have someone who did it before and can show you what is going about...sometimes piston of cylinder is damage too and should be chaned because new seals in this case will be not enought.In my company workers often repairs lift,tilt and steering cylinders...sometimes we bild own cylinders.For the first time probably it will be difficult but it is the best or only way to lern how to do it.

gravity tends to work alot better than any return spring.

no do not try this your self, you have to take it to a Caterpillar dealer with a cylinder shop the return spring can be dangerous.



just kidding since you posted 2 different places, I figured to give you 2 different answers.
truth is it is a pretty straight forward you just get the weight off the chains by blocking up the carriage, take the cross head off, and unscrew the gland nut. there is no "return spring".
